We went to the CATCH BUBBA Catfish Tournament with Aunt Lisa,Uncle Cricket, Grace, and Christopher way out in the DEEP WESTSIDE OF JAX. It's FISHIN WITH A MISSION... a fundraiser for the Downtown Ecumenical Services. Bubba Burgers, BBQ, Southern Rock'n'Roll, free cold beer delivered to your fishin spot out of kegs in a golf cart, need I say more? If you catch BUBBA (last seen 2 years ago at a whopping 45 pounds) you win $5,000. Biggest fish (not Bubba) wins $3K.
Well Uncle Cricket didn't get a bite for 3 hours 'til he handed the pole over to Jimmy. The best part of the day is whenever someone's got a tug on the line, the crowd around the lake starts chanting... "COME ON BUBBA.... IT LOOKS LIKE BUBBA...IT'S A BIG ONE.... IT'S........ BUBBA! BUBBA! BUBBA!!!! ( to whatever Lyrnyrd Skynyrd tune the crusty band is playing at the moment...)Jimmy and Uncle Cricket's "secret-recipe-marinated-shrimp-in-Diet Coke?-or-Mayonnaise? bait" pulled in a whopping 2.7 lb catfish...... see below.
3 minutes later, Grace pulled in a 3.9 pounder with Christopher's help. Then it was over!!!
The winning fish came in at 12.5 pounds. No BUBBA'S for the Fewell clan this year, but watch out all you rednecks... we've figured out "the Secret to Catchin' BUBBA" for next year!!
