America's Cup is bigger than the kids....
Continuing the summer flashback....
So we're off to Valencia, Spain to participate in the 32nd America's Cup www.americascup.com/en festivities. The first thing we did when we arrived, of course, was to see the Cup. Yes, it is actually bigger than the boys!
The America's Cup Village http://www.portamericascup.com/en/marina.php was set up very similar to an Olympic village, lots of museums, patriotism, and very expensive LOGO shops. We had our first beverages at the "cool" place to imbibe, Estrella Damm's Lounge, where the Sailing rock stars, and MANY of the Wanna-Be's finish the day. (The pic below of Mis and Dan was taken before the waitress returned with our order, but they definitely looked like rock stars, don't ya think?). We did manage to save 2 Aluminum Estella Damm Official Sponsor Beer bottles that made it all the way back to the states. (Many of the other items we hauled in our backpacks thru Europe were left on misc trains, boats, planes, and autos...)
The village offered many cool kids activities like this life-sized chess game. John doesn't have a chance against the Jimmy/Johnny Chess team!
Johnny and Jimmy also had a turn at wind powered go-karts. To make them go, they had to trim the sails and jibe thru the turns. Jimmy was so quick I could never get a face shot!
