Amsterdam and the Ice Bar

Of course we had to do Amsterdam and the red light district! Being a Sunday morning I figured it was a safe bet to bring the kids along, since everyone was probably recovering from Saturday night. Low and behold! There were plenty of "sights" to see! Fortunately, the district is actually a boulevard with a canal down the center. Melissa, being the seasoned tour guide, showed the kids ALL THE BOATS, while we gaped at the less family-friendly sights in the windows!

European sidewalk cafes.... you just gotta do it. We had brunch, brewskis, etc at this cute Amsterdam cafe where the kids could actually sit outside on the other side of the restaurant from us....
JF was picture taker and pancake cutter.... while we were out of sight of the kids.....
A little frisbee football after lunch... those crazy Americans!

Look closely... I just threw a white frisbee to Johnny and JF, across a busy street and streetcar track. Jimmy's on Dan's shoulders, Ashlynn's on Jimmy's. Well JF then threw the frisbee to Veronica (right) but it went right over her head. Little Jimmy shouted "OH MY GOSH DADDY HIT THE WEINER!!!!" as the frisbee bounced around the inside of that hotdog stand and rattled the hotdog lady and all of her customers. He offered to pay for the disturbance, but when they realized they weren't actually being bombed, they all laughed it off in Dutch.

Have you ever heard of the Ice Bar? It is literally entirely made of ICE. It is melted and re-carved about once a month. Even the yummy shots are served in ICE shot glasses. Since it was early Sunday, they let the kids in. Of course they dress you in full Russian fur coats. But that doesnt keep your BOUTROSS BOUTROSS warm when you sit on ICE seats! (notice we didn't sit down much) Missy and Jimmy

Oh look at those cold skinny legs!
